NHS Norfolk and Waveney has launched a public consultation today, 24 January, on its plans to transform how general practice services are delivered in the wider Norwich area.

It will be asking members of the public and stakeholders for their views on how general practice services should be delivered in the Norwich Primary Care Network (PCN) area when the current contract for the Norwich Walk-In Centre, GP Practice on Rouen Road, and the Vulnerable Adults Service – Inclusion Health Hub expires on 31 March 2024.

The consultation document can be found online here: https://improvinglivesnw.org.uk/have-your-say-consultation-on-general-practice-services-in-norwich/.

The consultation period will be open from Tuesday 24 January – Sunday 26 March 2023. There are two main aims of the consultation:

  • to gain people’s feedback and views to help shape the options that are available when the current contract for the Walk-In Centre, Vulnerable Adults Service – Inclusion Health Hub, and GP practice at Rouen Road expires; and.
  • to ask for people’s opinions and insights into the things that are important for them when accessing general practice services in order to help shape how future services are delivered.

Sadie Parker, Director of Primary Care for NHS Norfolk and Waveney, said “We are looking at the options for how general practice services are delivered in the greater Norwich area when the current contracts come to an end in spring 2024. Our priority for this consultation is to gain feedback that will help us shape effective general practice services that meet local people’s needs now and for the future.

“Hearing from current users of the Norwich Walk-In Centre and patients using the GP practice at Rouen Road, as well as the wider Norwich community, will be essential in helping us to do this.

“I encourage everyone to take part in this consultation exercise to not only provide feedback on the options that we’ve put forward but also to share your insight and experiences of general practice services to help inform how services are delivered in the greater Norwich area.”

NHS Norfolk and Waveney is keen to hear what people think of the changes that are being proposed in the consultation document and is encouraging patients that use the Norwich Walk-in Centre and GP practice on Rouen Road, interested groups and individuals, and the wider community in Norwich, to share their views and thoughts.

The public can have their say by completing the online survey which can be accessed here, or by completing a paper copy of the consultation document which will be made available at the Norwich Walk-In Centre and GP practice on Rouen Road.

All contributions made by members of the public will be compiled and used to write a report that will be published online on the ICS website at https://improvinglivesnw.org.uk/.
